8th Grade Artistic Interpretations
8th grade French students just finished studying about activities dealing with the arts, such as museums, movies, ballet and the theater. They learned the direct object pronouns le, la and les and how to use them, as well as the verbs savoir and connaître =telling whom and what you know. We wrapped up our chapter by creating artistic interpretations of different famous artists and artworks, such as Van Gogh, Picasso and Matisse. Here are the artists at work...
Hannah's "Starry Night"and Vicki's Matisse collage |
Amy's "Starry Night" |
Carson's Matisse collage |
Claire's Picasso portrait |
The finished products! Each one creative and unique in its own way. Bon travail!! |

5th Grade Self Portraits- Plus Friends and Family
In 5th grade French, we are learning the irregular verb être, or "to be" and how to conjugate! Combining this with words we have already learned to describe, the students are well on their way to creating sentences. Here are a few examples of our very original and creative descriptions of themselves, friends, family and perhaps a few cartoon characters! Merveilleux!
I am so proud of how well these kiddos are learning and how eager they are to share--Madame Frisillo

Poisson d"Avril
Instead of celebrating April Fool's Day, in France today is called Poisson d'Avril. The word "poisson" means "fish" and people will try to stick a paper fish onto the backs of their friends. Once the joke is discovered, they will shout, "Poisson d'Avril!"
Well...below is photo evidence that the 7th grade French class paid attention during French holiday presentations..and they fooled their teacher ;) Quelle blague!

Student Projects While Madame Frisillo Attends NCEA Next Week
Dear Families-
I will be attending the National Catholic Educational Association
Convention and Expo next week, April 7-10, with Mrs. Williams and
several other All Saints teachers. While I am gone, the students
will be working on a project about a famous French monument, its
history, who created it, etc. The expectations and rubric will be
clearly communicated in class this week. They will be expected to
bring a standard-sized poster board and any extra art supplies
they wish to use. The students will have access to crayons,
markers, colored pencils and construction paper here at school.
They can bring any of these supplies to school before we break for
the Easter holiday on Thursday, but must have them when they
return next Tuesday.
I am so grateful and excited for the opportunity to attend the
NCEA convention! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have
any questions.
Merci mille fois!
